TAGBILARAN CITY, August 4, 2017 (PIA) --August has a good get-back for Boholanos.
After missing two holidays in June which they are entitled to, Boholanos await two long weekends in August which could allow them the much needed time to travel and unwind after successfully getting through two arduous tasks.
Fully spent after a month-long hosting of parties, reunions and events, Boholanos deserve a break, tourism stakeholders who see the oppurtunity for tours and travel during the upcoming long week-ends said.
The two long weekends of three days each happen from Saturday to Monday of August 19-21 and August 26-28.
Both long weekends start on Saturdays and end on Mondays.
August 21, or better known as Ninoy Aquino Day has been declared special (non working holiday) through Proclamation Number 50, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last August 16.
On the other hand, August 28 happens to be the last Monday of August, which has been declared a regular holiday, and is considered National Heroes' Day.
July 1 has always been, by law, declared as Tagbilaran City Charter Day by virtue of Republic Act 8267 and is a non-working special public holiday for Tagbilaran.
Incidentally however, July 1 this year fell on a Saturday, which is normally a rest day for those who have weekend breaks from school or work on Saturdays and Sundays.
On the other hand, July 22, by virtue of Republic Act 7683, has been declared Bohol Day which celebrated its separation from Cebu and creation as a politico-military province as recognized by the American regime.
By this, the law puts in Bohol and in Tagbilaran City for the day a special non-working holiday.
But July 22 also fell on a Saturday, which in effect is already a no-working day, at least for those who have week-end breaks.
For Boholanos who may love road trips and special tours, a tourism product development officer Cristopher Bongcales of the Bohol Tourism Office suggests the Anda, Candijay and Ubay tour Circuit.
The potential tour includes Anda cave pools: Combento and Tibaw, Quinale beach for picnics, Talisay boardwalk and community immersion as well as a special Lamanoc Mystical Island tours, he proposed.
With a ride of their own, the Anda segment can be had for less than a hundred per head, or with Lamanoc Mystical Island, it is P350.00 per head, he said.
Other options include Candijay's Can-umangtad Falls, Canawa Spring and the Ubay Agri-Park tour at the Philippine Carabao Center Complex, the Ubay View and GreenPark in Imelda, PCA Cocohills tour at Sinandigan and Cambugsay Healing Hills.
Budget for this would not exceed P200 per head.
On the other hand, a road trip to San Vicente Mangrove Association's community immersion in Maribojoc, Maribojoc Demo farm, Punta Cruz Watchtower and geological uplift park, Loon's Inang-angan and to Calape's Sandingan Causeway would be good.
Other options include Tubigons Loomweaving, Cabgan Island experience, and Cambuhat River experience, he added. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
