2 Boholanos among Cabinet members of Duterte Admin.

TAGBILARAN CITY, June 1 (PIA)--The camp of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday night announced the members of the Cabinet of the incoming administration during a press conference at the Department of Social Welfare and Development guest house in Barangay Panacan, Davao City.

Two Boholanos, a politician and an economist are among those included in the Cabinet of the incoming administration.

The national campaign manager of Duterte and incumbent Mayor of Maribojoc town in Bohol, Leoncio “Toloy” Evasco was named as the Cabinet Secretary.

The Maribojoc born official is one of the trusted lieutenants of the incoming President having served Duterte’s administration since the first term of the 20 years of Duterte’s mayorship in Davao City before returning to Maribojoc to run as town mayor.
As Cabinet Secretary, the main mandate is to provide technical support to the Cabinet and primary advisory counsel to the President. 

Another Boholano, economist Dr. Ernesto Pernia is appointed as the next secretary of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

Pernia who retired as Senior Economist from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was one of those instrumental in the formulation of the 8-Point Economic Agenda of the Duterte administration.

He is presently connected with the University of the Philippines, School of Economics as Chairman Emeritus.

Pernia is a cousin of another Boholano, Dr. Romulo Neri who once served the same NEDA post under former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The newly appointed NEDA Chief earlier in a radio interview here assures he will not forget Bohol in the medium-term development program under the new Duterte government. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
