February 19, 2018: *** In a newly-released listing by NEDA, 4 Bohol projects worth P229-B are included in the 75 listed-priority projects which include: P124.150-B Cebu-Bohol Link Bridge, the P96.280-B Bohol-Leyte Link Bridge, the P4.134-B Bohol Northeast Basin Multipurpose Project and P4.570-B project for additional facilities in the New Panglao Bohol Airport. ***NEDA Sec. Ernesto Pernia said DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu will personally come to Bohol to assess the present condition of the resorts in Panglao especially after reports surfaced in the coliform contamination especially along the Alona beach area. *** Boholano National Economic Development Sec. Ernesto Pernia relayed that Panglao is next target of President Duterte's marching orders to save the country's prime tourist destinations from further environmental destruction. *** The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has kicked off the study of the proposed long span bridges that would link Southern Leyte to Bohol and Surigao, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways here.

TAGBILARAN CITY, June 15 (PIA) --Two outstanding local musical groups set the tone for the Second Bohol International Choir Festival Competitions (BICFC) which gathers six international choir groups and 3Philippine Choirs in Bohol from June 16-20, 2015. 

Outstanding for being hailed as national winners in the National Arts and Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in their respective years, Dimiao Children's Rondalla and the Alicia Bamboo Ensemble takes the Plaza Rizal kiosk to welcome the foreign and national choir delegates who would be assembling at the Plaza for the grand parade opening the choir festival at 4:00 PM June 16. 

The Dimiao Children's Rondalla, under the baton of conductress Norma Acuram, have been hailed as one of the best children musical groups which picks the string instruments: bajo de arco, bandurria, banjo, tenor, ukulele and the string guitar to play favorite folksongs, Filipino lovesongs and some popular music. 
On the other hand, the Alicia Pangkat Kawayan is an all bamboo band which uses the kulintang as its main instruments and uses the bamboo flute, bamboo guitars, gongs and contraption of bamboo tubes which provides the percussions. Organized from Katipunan Alicia Elementary School, the Bamboo ensemble has Ado Salarda as its musical director.

Both groups would be taking turns in entertaining the BICFC delegates from Incheon Seo-gu Choir, Jeonju Happy Choir, Ulsan Jung-ju Female Choir, Ulsan Taehwagang Choir, all from South Korea, the Taipei Alice Choir of Taiwan and the Sol Art Choir of Vietnam.

Both groups would also be entertaining Philippine Choirs participating in the 2nd BICFC organized by the Center for Culture and the Arts Development (CCAD) of Bohol Capitol's Office of the Governor. 

In the list of local choir delegates are Don Bosco Choir, Cebu Singing Ambassadors and University of the Philippine Los Banos. 

According to CCAD Head Romulo Tagaan, no Bohol choir is joining the competition in as much as both Bohol Master Singers and Holy Name University Choirs have both won the competitions already. 

The world famous Loboc Children's Choir is also banned from entering the competitions, them being recognized international winners. The choir is now on to a concert abroad: New Zealand and Australia in its efforts to further fatten the fund sources for the rehabilitation and restoration of its church which the earthquake of 2013 damaged. 

On June 16 also, Boholanos can have advance previews of the choirs as special concert is set at the BQ Mall Atrium at 2:00 PM. Performing are Vietnam's Sol Art and Korea's Jeon-ju Happy Choir. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
